IMPI is a 1200 ha property with an 8 km frontage to the Lindsay River (an anabranch of the Murray River), in far North Western Victoria.
The name IMPI derives from the Aboriginal word for the fresh water mussel which the natives caught in abundance in the Lindsay River. The present owners, the Cant family, coined the name IMPI as an identity for the property and now have 3 generations involved in its activities. |

The soils are part alluvial flood plain and part NE facing gentle sandy slope with little remaining vegetation.
Farm irrigation is by gravity flow to raised beds from an extensive channel network.
|
Orchard irrigation is by low level microsprinklers.
Present development comprises over 100 ha of citrus with its own packhouse and some 200 - 300 ha of irrigated field crops. The remaining area is sown to winter cereals according to seasonal conditions.
|
A range of citrus varieties enables a harvest and packing season to extend for 10 months from May to March. All mainland capital city markets are serviced weekly with consignments of both packed and net-bagged fruit.
Over run fruit not meeting the high standard required for the fresh fruit market is diverted to fresh juice processing at 'Crusta', Waikerie.
